X-Men is a highly successful franchise created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1963 for Marvel Comics that quickly became popular among comic book fans. However, all this fame gained a worldwide scale when the title began to be adapted for other media such as cartoons and live action films that shone brightly in cinemas.
And speaking of strength, since there are so many powerful individuals throughout the franchise, we've decided to list the nine strongest characters in the X-Men universe here in this article and we'll present them in ascending order. Follow us to find out if your favorite is among them!
Vampire

Rogue is an old hand to fans of the saga and certainly deserves to be among the strongest characters in the X-Men universe. This is because her ability gives her the capacity to absorb the power of other mutants with just a touch, making her potential basically limitless, although the use of these "borrowed" powers is only for a short time.
Her given name is Anna Marie and she was mentioned in the comics long after her creation and in a work written by screenwriter Chris Claremont. The limits of Rogue's power absorption are unknown, since she was able to withstand the absorption of even Carol Denvers' powers and become as strong as Captain Marvel in the comics.
Magneto

Even those who don't know much about the franchise know that Magneto has to be among the strongest characters in the X-Men universe. He was introduced as a villain in the mutant group's first comic book in 1963, but since then he has become much more than that, even though he continues to play the role of antagonist in many stories.
Erik Lensherr, his real name, has already acted as Professor Xavier's ally in many situations and his reasons are understandable. His magnetic powers allow him to control metal in its most diverse states, and he can even control the iron in people's blood. Magneto is between the alpha and omega levels in terms of power scale and that means a lot since mutants at these levels are extremely powerful.
Kid Omega

Here we have a character not so well known to the public, but who also deserves to be among the strongest characters in the X-Men universe. Quentin Quire is an excellent telepath whose thought frequency is so advanced that even Professor X had trouble keeping up, disguising his dangerous tendencies very well while attending the Xavier Institute.
His first appearance was in issue #134 of New X-Men, released in 2003, and since then he has made his presence felt with the extent of his powers. Kid Omega is one of the most formidable telepaths in the entire franchise, building shields and weapons with the power of his mind, controlling people, creating illusions in their heads and many other things!
Emma Frost
Formerly known as one of the X-Men's most fearsome adversaries, Emma Frost has become one of her most valuable allies. Born into a wealthy family, Emma not only developed her telepathic abilities, but also became a master of mind manipulation. Over time, she has shown a complexity that goes beyond her villainous facade, becoming a central figure in the education of young mutants at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.
Emma not only uses her telepathy to read and control minds, but also has the ability to transform her body into diamond, becoming nearly physically invulnerable. This combination of mental and physical strength makes her one of the most powerful and multifaceted telepaths in the Marvel universe.
Psylocke
Psylocke, also known as Betsy Braddock, is one of the most enigmatic characters in the X-Men. Originally a British telepath with moderate psychic abilities, her mind was transferred into the body of a Japanese ninja, expanding her abilities to include extraordinary physical prowess and a psionic sword that cuts through matter and mental energy.
Not only can she attack her enemies' bodies with precise martial arts moves, but she can also devastate their minds with lightning-fast telepathic attacks, making her one of the X-Men's most lethal combatants.
Cable
Cable (Nathan Summers) is the son of Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Madelyne Pryor (Jean Grey's clone) from the future, who was sent to the future as a baby to save his life. There, he developed not only a technological arsenal, but also telepathic and telekinetic abilities, making him an excellent warrior in both physical and mental combat.
Cable He uses his telepathy mainly for communication and battlefield manipulation, being able to control multiple variables in a confrontation. His ability to travel through time and his strategic vision make him one of the most powerful telepaths in Marvel, always focused on protecting the present to ensure a better future.
Legion

Legion, or David Haller as he was christened at birth, is Professor Xavier's son and potentially one of the strongest characters in the X-Men universe. However, all this strength comes at a price: the boy has frequent bouts of schizophrenia and has to deal with multiple personalities, which is part of his ability.
David is very unstable and difficult to deal with, and his abilities vary according to the personality that is in possession of his body. At first, David's personalities were three and his abilities could manifest as telepathic, pyrokinetic and telekinetic, but as time goes by, he discovers more personalities, more powers and further increases his destructive potential.
Black phoenix

The Dark Phoenix is a cosmic entity that can be considered one of the strongest characters in the X-Men universe. It is one of the first major villains to be introduced into the franchise, having a strong connection with the mutant Jean Grey, whose psychic and telekinetic abilities caught his attention to the point of using her as a sort of "host".
The Phoenix Force has the ability to interfere directly with life and death and for this reason, even though Jean dies several times throughout the franchise, she always ends up returning in some way. Jean herself is considered an Omega-level mutant, on a par with great telepaths in terms of power, such as Professor Xavier himself. However, the Dark Phoenix ends up making her unstable like a time bomb and Professor X ends up sealing away most of her abilities to try to keep her under control. Something that eventually goes wrong, as was to be expected.
Rasputin IV

Rasputin is considered a recent character, having been introduced to the franchise at the very beginning of the Krakoa era. She was built in a laboratory from the genes of other, stronger X-Men mutants and is therefore a kind of chimera. She even has genes from Laura, who acted as X-23 and later took on the mantle of Wolverine, as well as Colossus, who is responsible for her metallic appearance.
However, it's not just for all her abilities that Rasputin can be considered one of the strongest characters in the X-Men universe. She also carries within her the willpower and determination of the owners of the genes used in her construction, which makes it a very difficult task to confront her.
Scarlet Witch

Although she is currently best known for her role in Avengers, Wanda Maximoff is also one of the strongest characters in the X-Men universe. In fact, she originated from this franchise, having been part of the other Marvel team later in the comics. She first appeared in issue #4 of Uncanny X-Men, released in 1963.
She is an Omega-level mutant and uses magic as her main skill. Her abilities range from mental manipulation, generating force fields, predicting the future, creating supernatural beings and even manipulating reality. Her personality has always been shown as more reserved and her difficulty in relating to people outside her family was clear, which ended up damaging her ability to feel empathy.
Tarn

Tarn was introduced in 2020 in issue #6 of Hellions. He is considered one of the strongest characters in the X-Men universe due to his ability to control the genetic mutation of others and himself as he sees fit. He's a formidable and merciless warrior known for his strength.
His power level is omega bordering on alpha and he has already been responsible for the elimination of some characters in the course of history. However, he ended up meeting a tragic end at the hands of Magneto after using his helmet in an oversight that cost him dearly. This happened in issue #3 of X-Men: Red (Vol. 2), released in June 2022.
Apocalypse

Apocalypse is one of the most powerful characters in the X-Men universe. The villain, who became popular for being the main antagonist in the X-Men: Evolution animation released in the 2000s, goes far beyond what is shown in the cartoon. He first appeared in issue #6 of the comic book X-Factor Vol 1, released in 1986.
He is known as one of the first known mutants, hailing from ancient Egypt where he went by the name of En Sabar Nur. He also has the power to control the molecules of his own body, shrinking in size, teleporting, changing shape and even creating defense resources.
After various experiments, he was also able to extend these powers, being able to cure himself indefinitely of any illness and transfer his mind from his body, being able to reappear over the millennia as a kind of "resuscitation". He can also interact with technology, "talking" to machines and controlling them for his own purposes. And these are just a few of the many things Apocalypse can do.
