With the anime's resounding success around the world, it would naturally resonate with the manga as well, as it is the original work. So, one of the things you don't know about Tokyo Revengers is that his manga has outsold several others that have been extremely popular for years!

Among them, One Piece fell behind, according to the Oricon ranking in 2021. In addition to One Piece, the final chapters of Attack on Titan also ended up being surpassed.

During the release of the first season of the anime here in the West, one thing ended up happening: Crunchyroll prevented the symbol representing the gang from appearing in the scenes. This is one of the things you don't know about Tokyo Revengers, as there is a specific reason for this.

The symbol has nothing to do with historical issues or prejudice. However, in the West this figure is rarely publicized in this way and, to avoid conflicts and confusion, the streaming service thought it would be better to leave the image out of the fifth episode.

The mangaka was once part of a gang

Journalists have already asked mangaka Ken Wakui where his ideas for writing the story of these gangs came from and his answer surprised many: he was a member of a gang in the 2000s!

This is certainly one of the things you don't know about Tokyo Revengers, after all, who would have imagined that an author would have drawn inspiration from his personal life to write about youth gangs?!

The symbol of the Toman gang

As previously mentioned, the West does not have a good relationship with swastikas, much less views them favorably, due to the dark past that links the symbol to a fascist party. However, its real meaning is far from being associated with this…

In fact, this symbol is called Manji and is present in several Eastern cultures, appearing in ancient temples and in some Japanese businesses, as its meaning is positive. There is a slight difference between the Manji and the symbol used, represented by its inclination, which proves that the symbol was distorted by the German ideology of the time.
