The film “Emilia Pérez” is directed by Jacques Audiard and is a novel that was adapted from “Ecoute”, by Boris Razon. The film follows Rita, who is a lawyer used to defending criminals and getting them out of jail, until the day she receives a call from Manitas del Monte: a cartel leader from Mexico. The criminal wants Rita’s help to undergo gender reassignment surgery, in addition to protecting his wife and family by getting them out of Mexico.
The quartet of actresses caught the attention of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival and made them take the rare decision of awarding all four of them with the Best Actress award! The brutalist
This is one of the longest Oscar-nominated films, clocking in at 3h35, which may make many viewers wary of watching it because of this. However, the film tells the story of an immigrant named László Toth (played by Adrian Brody) in the US, in the post-World War II period, and his difficulties and resilience in trying to adapt, even though he is an immigrant. The architect has the chance to change his life when he is hired by a businessman to design a modernist monument.

A Complete Unknown
This is one of the Oscar-nominated films that portrays part of the story of Bob Dylan, one of the most talented and brilliant American singers of all time. Nickel Boys is a story that revolves around a friendship between two young black men, based on a Pulitzer Prize-winning book of the same name. The friends are called Elwood and Turner, two young African-American men who are taken to a reformatory at the height of Jim Crow's segregationist laws and now need to find refuge in each other, amidst the violence they suffer inside and outside detention.
